2. Dramatically Slower Performance

If your computer suddenly became slow without you installing anything new, malware could be using your CPU and memory in the background — sometimes to mine cryptocurrency or send spam.

3. Programs You Didn't Install

Check your installed programs list. If you see toolbars, "PC cleaners," or software you don't recognize, they likely came bundled with something else — and they're probably doing more harm than good.

1. Stop entering passwords. If a keylogger is running, every password you type is being captured.
2. Don't download "free antivirus." Many are themselves malware. Stick to known brands (Windows Defender, Malwarebytes).
3. Disconnect from the internet if you suspect active data theft.
